Joe Meno Builds LEGO Wall-E :-P

June 18, 2008

BrickJournal editor Joe Meno built this super slick LEGO version of the upcoming Wall-E robot (Disney-Pixar movie).  I’m sure the movie will rock, as all of Pixar’s movies do, but till the movie comes out.. this LEGO version will have everyone’s attention :D .

You can see more pictures here.

LEGO 5613: City Firefighter Emergency Rescue Build & Review

June 16, 2008

Took me 4 minutes to make because it’s only 25 pieces. It’s actually less than that because there are a few extras. The final result is still impressive. The mini figure is of very high quality and looks super cool.

Bad-Ass Meter: 5/5 (For $3.25, I should have bought a few more)

LEGO 7094: Castle: King’s Castle Siege Build & Review

June 16, 2008

It cost me $100, but it was well worth it. 973 pieces, 3 hours, 9 minifigures (4 knights, 4 skeletons, 1 king) and this is what you get:

Bad-Ass Meter: 5/5 (It comes with a dragon, what else was I supposed to rate it?)

LEGO 3830: Spongebob Squarepants: Bikini Bottom Express Build & Review

June 16, 2008

When I was at the LEGO store buying the closeout ExoForce and AquaRaiders sets, I was with my nephew and a friend. My nephew couldn’t stop talking about this particular spongebob set, so I picked it up and over this weekend, I made the set with my nephew and loved it.

The 210 piece set took me 25 minutes and was a hell of a lot of fun. The bus has 6 wheels, a lift-off roof and comes with a ticket booth and bus stop. The parts are pretty simple to assemble and turn out amazing.

Bad-Ass Meter: 4.5/5 (I think the price was a bit much)

Kasdan Will Write ROBOTECH Movie. WHAT!?

June 13, 2008

FYI: Kasdan wrote Empire Strikes Back and Raiders of the Lost Arc among other amazing films. :D

Chud.com says:

The last news was that Tobey Maguire’s Maguire Entertainment was developing the picture for Warner Brothers, and for a while there was a relatively unknown guy named Craig Zahler on script duties. But Kasdan puts a whole new angle on it. Sure, he’s got Dreamcatcher lurking between now and when he wrote The Empire Strikes Back and Raiders of the Lost Ark, but bringing someone like him to the table means this could actually be happening.

3age Baby Marvel Characters Are Adorable!

June 11, 2008

I saw these a week ago and couldn’t believe how awesome they look. The company that makes these (3age) has made them in the past and they have sold very well. Unfortunately they aren’t available here in the U.S. so you have to get yours from japan. For about $105 (shipping included), you can get your hands on this series 3 set. The first two series are also still available at some online importers. Blister.jp is one of them. This set includes wolverine, spiderman, black spiderman, stealth iron man, and the hulk.

LEGO 4954: Creator Model Town House Build & Review

June 11, 2008

On the LEGO website, this item is listed as Exclusive and Hard-to-Find. And let me tell you something.. that is VERY TRUE. It took me forever to find this town house, but I did so as the local LEGO outlet here in New York. It cost me an arm and a leg, but with about 1200 pieces, what can you expect? The item is no longer available on LEGO’s online website. You can find it at a few rare locations or on ebay.

On to the good stuff: This 9″ tall set took an awful long time to build (6 hours). It has a life-up roof so you can see what’s going on inside the house/garage. The garage door swings up and down so you can actually store a car inside as well. All of the doors and windows open and close. There is a trash bin at the front of the house, flowers and bushes at the front and many other nice details. You have to see this set in person to believe how beautiful it is. You can make 3 different styles of houses. They include a booklet for each.

Bad-Ass Meter: 5/5

LEGO 8115: Exoforce Dark Panther Build & Review

June 11, 2008

Yep, it’s one of the baddies. This set contains 3 evil bad guys/robots, a mini robot, and a huge dark panther robot with thorns and a spiky tail. This is taller than the other robots, standing at 8″. It has 4 legs and of the 3 iron drone robots, two have backpacks and can fly. This was a bit more complicated (and annoying) to build than the other Exoforce sets, but it was worth it in the end. It’s somewhat like the battle arachnoid (8112) but larger. I think anyone who has some change to spare and half an hour will find this a great set to build.

Bad-Ass Meter: 4.5/5
