I bought myself one of these about 2-3 weeks ago. I haven’t been playing my PS3 as much because of all the blogging and LEGO building, but I did get a good test out of this controller with all sorts of tasks. I tested it for:
Sixaxis Functionality (Ratchet & Clank)
General Movement (Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune)
Battery Life (played for 15 1/2 hours before battery died)
Vibration (crashing into people on Grid demo)
I have some pictures that compare the new Dual Shock 3 with the old Sixaxis. To me, there is really no physical difference between the two except the Dual Shock 3 feeling a bit heavier and more substantial. The regular Sixaxis is no longer in production so prices may drop for that and hopefully that will drive Dual Shock 3 prices down and maybe Sony will start bundling new PS3’s with the DS3.
Overall Rating: 5/5 (It’s a perfect controller and is what every PS3 owner should be using to play their games. Did I miss anything?!)
Now all we have to do is hope we get the white and platinum ones here as well, otherwise you can order those at playasia.com.
